The Ladies’ Ministry meets the first Sunday of every month to discuss the needs of the church and its members. It includes a Food Ministry, Funeral Ministry, Card Ministry, Communion Ministry, Missionary Ministry, Hostess Ministry, Visitation Ministry and other duties as assigned by the minister and elders.
The history of our Ladies’ Ministry goes back to November 18, 1952 when 18 women met in our church with a desire to live out their Christian faith. The ladies discussed the purpose of their envisioned group. This was not a spur-of-the-moment idea. They were serious and very committed.
Mrs. Leslie Lumsden was invited to speak to the new group, presenting the womens’ work being done at the First Christian Church in Elizabethton, TN. Our ladies took the seed that was planted that November day and began to water and nourish the future. They chose a name, “The Seekers,” and established Christian guidelines: seeking the truth, seeking service for Christ and His Church, seeking the lost for Christ, promoting a closer fellowship with Christ and His Church, being soul winners for Christ, reading the Bible daily, cultivating a missionary spirit within the church, and visiting/ministering to the shut-ins.
Today the Seekers are known as our Ladies Ministry and they still meet once a month. Our missions and ministries are the same as they were over half a century ago. We still provide spiritual, physical and monetary needs for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We still prepare communion every Sunday and we still perform Missionary work here and overseas. Won’t you please join us?
